How to Use

Starting Your Watch

If your watch has stopped:

  1. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in.

  2. Turn the crown clockwise 20–30 times.

  3. The watch will begin running.

  4. Wear the watch regularly to keep it wound automatically.

A fully wound Miyota 8285 has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

Crown Positions

The Miyota 8285 has three crown positions.

Position 0 – Normal Position

The crown is fully pushed in against the case.

Function:

  • Manual winding

Turn the crown clockwise to wind the movement.

Position 1 – Day & Date Setting

Pull the crown out until you feel the first click.

Functions:

  • Adjust the day

  • Adjust the date

Important: Do not adjust the day or date between 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM, as the calendar mechanism may already be engaged.

Position 2 – Time Setting

Pull the crown out one click further until you feel the second click.

Function:

  • Set the time

How Do I Know Which Position I'm In?

Position 0

  • The crown is fully against the watch case.

  • You can wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise.

Position 1

  • Pull the crown out gently until you feel the first click.

  • The crown sits slightly away from the case.

  • This position is used to adjust the day and date.

Position 2

  • Pull the crown one click further until you feel the second click.

  • The crown is at its maximum extension.

  • This position is used to set the time.

Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown to Position 2.

  2. Turn the crown until the correct time is displayed.

  3. Push the crown back in to resume normal operation.

Setting the Day & Date

  1. Pull the crown to Position 1.

  2. Turn the crown to adjust the day or date.

  3. Push the crown back in once the correct day and date are displayed.

Important: Avoid adjusting the day or date between 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM.

Care Tips

  • Wind the watch before wearing it if it has stopped.

  • Keep the crown fully pushed in when not adjusting the watch.

  • Avoid exposing the watch to strong magnetic fields.

  • Clean the case and bracelet regularly with a soft microfiber cloth.

  • Have the movement serviced approximately every 5–7 years to maintain optimal performance.
